Soozan Doozi handicrafts from Baluchistan
This art of embroidery typical of Baluchistan, a region of Iran located at the south-eastern end of the country on the border with Pakistan, is used to create precious traditional clothes that the women of the region still wear with pride today. Some women have recently started making elegant ornaments such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets and more by expertly embroidering the traditional designs of the Soozan Doozi and creating beautiful combinations that you can admire in our online bazaar.
The founder of the girl group called Tekuk that we collaborate with is called Atefe.
Atefe while embroidering
She introduces herself like this: "My name is Atefeh and I graduated in history in 2018. I started dedicating myself to crafts, following a different path from my mother's dream who wanted me to become a teacher. In splendid Baluchistan, land of palm trees and sun , children learn the art of embroidery from an early age, an integral part of the ancient culture of the region and present in every women's dress. I am proud to know and practice this art too. My dream was to create a team of embroiderers and create unique products with this technique. I started creating jewelry under the name "Rozhan Yar" (light and friendship), experimenting and learning from my mistakes. As I dedicated more time to my work, I felt myself changing internally. I started thinking about further studying the culture and history of Baluchistan, promoting the beauty of the region through my art, and writing about Baluch women. In 2024 I renamed my brand to "Tekuk", which means "golden chalice". My work focuses on women's empowerment, dedicating much of my efforts to supporting girls and women of Baluchistan, like me."
We are proud as Shirin Persia to support the work of Atefe and her collaborators and also to offer our customers these unique products with their beautiful story of tradition, culture, beauty and social redemption.
