Shirin Persia elected beer of the year at "Solobirra" 2022
Is it possible to brew an excellent saffron beer? A beer that experts and newcomers to the world of brewing can enjoy? And how can the incisive and complex taste of saffron spice be incorporated into a balanced beer?
Our challenge was to create Shirin Persia!
On 21 March 2022, at the "Solobirra" event in Riva del Garda, we received wonderful confirmation of the work we had done over the past two years. In fact, our Shirin Persia, brewed in collaboration with our friends at the 5+ craft brewery in Trento, not only won the gold medal in the "spiced beers" category, but was also elected "beer of the year 2022" from among the 300 or so beers in the competition.

This result arrived after two years of shared work, of difficulties but also of great satisfaction, two years in which we never stopped believing in this project.
The motivations that have driven us are mainly the three pillars on which this beer is based
- quality together with the continuous search for improvement
- the ethical principles of the fair trade project linked to Shirin Persia saffron
- the community spirit underlying this product, which is part of Slow Food's first transnational community of "Qa'en saffron producers and co-producers".

Shirin Persia saffron beer wins 'Best Beer 2022' medal
As you can hear in the interview with Kuaska, one of the world's leading experts on craft beer, what most impressed Shirin Persia beer in the competition was its balance and the way in which it made the most of such a difficult ingredient as saffron to include in the aromatic profile of a beer, making it perceived without making the drink cloying but very pleasant.
For the entire team behind Shirin Persia beer, this award is a confirmation of the quality of their work and commitment over the years, a great satisfaction and above all a new stimulus and a new starting point.
